Future Claims #1 Newsstand Revenue

by The Editors on February 13, 2007

1T Fsm2.5SmIn the flaunt what you got category comes this: Future Snowboarding magazine is claiming today that they have captured 44 percent of the total snowboard magazine revenue from North Amercian newsstands. Here’s a little of their qualifications:

“Making it the No. 1 snowboarding magazine on North American newsstands in terms of revenue and No. 2 in North America in terms of copies sold.”

Being number two on North American newsstands never sounded so good.

It’s my favorite snow mag…who cares about what some dumbass drunk pro did on a free trip to Brazil? Future is the only mag out there that actually writes about real stuff that matters to someone going snowboarding this weekend somewhere. Kudos to them.

Never heard of the mag… Sounds like a lame claim

That didn’t take long.

If you’ve never heard of the mag you might want to familiarize yourself with the industry in which you work. Or just crawl back in the hole.

I’m gonna have to say Future just sounds lame, I keep seeing it on the newstand but something about it makes me not want to read it. It looks like a tabloid mag. Snowboarder has been left to the 12 year olds. Transworld has good pics. I’m gonna have to say my money is going to Snowboard, just a good quality mag, good angles on a flat passtime….. Oh, and 44 percernt of nothing is not much to brag about.

Good angles? The latest issue of Snowboard has three riding photos in the first 50 pages of editorial. You probably don’t snowboard then. Plus the whole magazine is a big Grenade catalog. Future has not justified this claim. I heard Frequency is the other 56%. TW and Snowboarder need help but at least they don’t plant fabricated claims on cheesy advertising sites or consider sending boxes of magazines to advertisers as distribution or tell companies that if they don’t advertise they won’t get any coverage.

this is really stupid to argue over. Snowboard mags are not what they use to be, but maybe they are since they still pay the same salaries of 1994. How can anyone take any one seriously if they make 28 grand a year as an editor. Bunch of chumps still trying to live the dream
