Snowboarding Is My Bitch

by The Editors on February 21, 2007

Bitch1
Sometimes we read this stuff and we think people are kidding. Alex Masterson, who is described in the press release as “an innovative Southern California snowboard designer” is launching her own brand of snowboards specifically designed for women called, Bitchboards (what, no c-word?).

‘Style, Design and Performance’ is the three-word mantra for the company. By taking an artistic approach to the design, a BitchBoards snowboard is not just a board, but also a work of art. The use of modern and abstract photography, such as green smoke swirling in the air or smeared paint on a white palette, for the graphics immediately separates BitchBoards from the competition.

Our two word mantra for Alex: good luck.

Anonymous February 21, 2007 at 12:47 pm

stupid bitch.

Jimmy Dean February 21, 2007 at 1:25 pm

She needs to call the brand Dumb Cunt Snowboards cause that’s the only customers she’s gonna get to buy the things. Then she can start a binding brand and call it Cunt Clamps.

You mama February 21, 2007 at 2:55 pm

Might as well take all that capital money and snort some coke. It’s be more fun than giving it away to other people really slowly with a dumb ass snowboard company like this. I’d like rub my Winterstick all up her Ooger Booger.

Jen February 21, 2007 at 4:26 pm

Sounds like a bunch of punk ass little boys are threatened by Bitchboards. For the worm that wants to rub his winterstick up his mother Ooger Booger why don’t you save it for Jimmy Dean. Don’t worry you will out grow your immaturity when you turn 12 and get laid by your sister.

hateonthis February 21, 2007 at 4:37 pm

this is the saddest wackest shit I have seen in some time. Why is it that various trust fund babies think they can do it better than people who actually ride 100 days plus a season! You wont even get into sporting goods stores because of the name and no self respecting snowboard shop would touch this surely? So so lame

Jimmy Dean February 21, 2007 at 4:40 pm

I think Jen has a point. I know that I am threatened by Bitchboards. I feel inadequate with women so I lash out with verbal comments. I am sorry about my comments I am coming out of the closet, does anyone know Sal Rocco or your mama. This is agreat place to meet guys.

important notes of interest…

According to Bitch. The snowboard market is ignoring the female demographic… it isn’t addressing the needs of the female rider… it’s graphics are not meeting the demands of the customers…

this company. 1) knocks of a poor version of Ezeikiel’s poor knock of of Chanel. 2) they have god awful photographic images that will most likely be screened onto the topsheet and be blury and mudled. 3) boards will be stamped out in 140, 145, 150 sizes in china with some Rossi poly core foam crap, poor stance options and 1000 extruded screen p tex that will stick to snow better then my wooden x country skis all waxed up with Clister.

and the biggest problem is any girl who buys this will most definatly be called a BITCH when she throws this piece of shit at her poor boyfriend as he tries to teach her on this pile of crap…

No one is threatened just sick of cookie cutter snowboard brands dumping mass volumes of garbarge in stores who sell boards at 75% in December to make room for the patio furniture shipment and camping gear.

Anonymus February 21, 2007 at 4:57 pm

My name is also anonymous because I, like others who use the anonymous cover, am afraid to state my name. I suggest that all anonymous do their research before they attempt to mouth off about what they don’t know. Here is a little education…

What you don’t know is how to spell “knock off”, it’s not spelled “knock of”!!!!!! Or how about learning to spell “blurry” or “muddled” correctly???? Dumb Ass…looks like you are the stupid bitch.

Anonymus February 21, 2007 at 5:21 pm

I don’t think too many shops will put that on their racks…

“Mommy, i want this one because it’s got the same name on it that daddy calls you when we stay at his house…”

Anonymus February 21, 2007 at 6:08 pm

Not one photo of and actual SNOWBOARDING on their site. Or at least, not one that I could find. In all honesty, I didn’t look that long… coulnd’t take it any more. Die, BITCH, die.

sjsnow February 21, 2007 at 6:16 pm

Sounds like you boys have a lot of anger issues. Why don’t you be on your way to Chris Hanson. He’s waiting for you.

…and so is the sweat tea.

You mama February 22, 2007 at 11:39 am

Hey Jen, if Jimmy Dean looks like that chick holding the bitch board and has a vagina, then count me in.

Instead of getting so defensive, why don’t you take look at the bigger picture here and direct you energy somewhere positive. This is one of the worst marketing ploys ever invented. Get over yourself, it has nothing to do with guys vs. girls. It’s just plain dumb. Good luck getting those pieces of crap in big chain stores or “core” shops. What’s left? You didn’t invent the name or marketing, did you? Sorry.

You mama February 22, 2007 at 11:54 am

Oh, and in case you didn’t know, Ooga Booga and Winterstick are 2 old brands that are out of business. Well, Winterstick might still be in business, who knows. But I’m sure you knew that already, didn’t cha honey.

jen February 22, 2007 at 12:31 pm

I wish I did invent it! It’s great!

Got you back peddling huh? You obviously have problems with women- get help. Grow up and don’t take things so personal.

dumb stupid whore shredder February 22, 2007 at 3:17 pm

If you can handle the website long enough, to get the team you contact teammanager@quiksilver.com. WTF? Does Quik have something to do with this shit? Do they know?

Kara Lee February 22, 2007 at 4:14 pm

i don’t get why the care so much. it’s just wierd.

Jimmy Dean February 22, 2007 at 5:58 pm

Someone have a problem with my hot beef injection?

Ok lets point out something here. There’s probably what now 10,000 snowboard companies on the market as we speak. The ones that have set the standard are still around. The ones that have good marketing are making a name for themselves. The rest are just cookie cutter crap. There are very few new brands that are even worth noting as being good. This seems to me as another one that is trying to crack into a certain market that actually has a bunch of great brands making stuff for women. I.E. Salomon, Burton, Nikita, etc. etc. The womens market isn’t what it was a decade ago there’s more good products for them out there.

Why are the ones signed by Alex Masterson 580 dollars? Who the hell is this person that they can demand more for it. Sorry but I’d rather pay around 500 for a Capita Photofetish that has pictures taken by guys that actually work in this industry. 580 bucks for an upstart is outrageous. Hell Burtons might sell for 500 plus but they also have a great marketing team, rider team, semi decent product, and superb technology. Also mouse pads and coasters? WTF are we using the computer on the slopes? Do I really want a coaster that says Bitch Boards laying around the house so when my friends with kids come over they can see it?

I love how they say that most womens boards use a gay ass Foam Injection core. Ok I can think of more than a Dozen womens snowboard models that don’t use that crap in it. Cap constructed womens boards? What 10 years ago seriously all this site does is try to talk down the competition and push their product. Using the F.U.D method of selling is wack and the only people that use that are ones that don’t know how to sell. I didn’t realize that most women choose freeride boards over freestyle boards. I guess the fact that this year and next there’s been such a huge insurgence of Womens specific park boards is a lie. Wow I love that they still use that old throw back for sizing. Between the chin and nose, wtf are they going to eat the damn snowboard? Who cares.

T.V commercials on E and MTV. Wow going for that Laguna Beach crowd guess you’re going to be doing demo’s at Squawallywood. Will Paris Hilton be one of the team riders?

girl rider February 22, 2007 at 6:25 pm

wow! you have a problem.

How worked up can you get over this? Chill. Do you realize thow many replies this posting has generated. Count them. If you Keep alienating ever girl out their with you rude comments this company will be succesful.

This is classic and I quote. ” WTF Do I really want a coaster that says Bitch Boards laying around the house so when my friends with kids come over they can see it?” get real! If your a guy why would you have a Bitchboard laying around the house? That’s a scary question. Are you a guy?

Also with you language and obvious distain for women who would trust bringing their kids to your place. It’s all BS the truth is that your pissed that a young girl can be asking $500 per board and might get it.

I wish Bitchboards the best of luck. nothing is better then a little competition in the marketplace. if you were making $500 a week this price wouldn’t be such a problem. Ask for a raise and then and Bitchboards success won’t be such a threat to you.

Ride on Bitchboard

Stupid Girl February 22, 2007 at 6:59 pm

Why would I have that? Because every year companies like this give me mounds of crap to help smooth me over to get in the shop. I have a cupboard full of stuff I’ll never use.

I love women, I love the womens market. I make a ton of money from the womens market. Would I put this in the shop that I work at? No. Want to know why besides the obvious flaws in their marketing? Because that big ole 5 letter word. If you are/were a parent would you want your daughter riding that? No and if you work in the industry would you want your shop having something that can turn off potential customers from your store? I doubt it, its a marketing gimic that will more than likely be thrown back in their face. Would I put my girlfriend on that board? No because its another upstart thats just going to a factory saying ok I like this now make it. When a board has that man size runs per model its definately not being made for a specific rider fit. Which if you look at their website they seem to try to tell girls how/what they should be looking for from their products. Sorry but a size run of 138 to 153 for the exact same board isn’t good. Any real company that makes a womens specific doesn’t have ungodly huge size runs per model they have specific models that fit specific riding styles. As far as Alienation goes there’s too many companies that are marketing stuff as being “for women by women” that are completely sub par. This is another fine example of it.

Susieq103 February 22, 2007 at 7:14 pm

OMG…are you people really getting this heated over a snowboard company!!??!!!

wow…i can’t believe what i am reading…some of you guys are sooooooo defensive- what you afraid of more chicks on the mountain???

All girls out there should support any and all efforts to bring a more mass support to snowboarding…haters all of you.

Why is it such a crime to market to the recreational rider? And for all you prudes who think ‘Bitch’ is a bad word…why don’t you take it up with the FCC since it’s allowed on about 90% of radio and t.v. shows…

Guess old uncle sam doesn’t think it’s that bad.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO LIGHTEN UP…IT’S NOT LIKE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS, LIKE BEING AT WAR, ARE HAPPENING IN THE WORLD!!!!!!

stupid girls mama February 22, 2007 at 8:37 pm

Stupid girl response is coming from a low rent store clerk who claims to make plenty of money at the shop you work at…you work at? The wat you brag I woukdnthink that you owned a chain of snowboard shops but in reality you are just another minimum wage punk rider. We know who you are! It’s boys like you that makes us hope the draft is reinstated because then maybe the Army would make a man out of you! Then you can defend the country and not attack women who are trying to build a business. Snowboarding isn’t just for boys and you better learn that soon lightweight!

it's us February 22, 2007 at 8:47 pm

The problem with this company is all the men snowboarders are afraid of being someones Bitch!

Anonymus February 23, 2007 at 2:26 am

guess the reality is money talks – bullshit walks. Hope daddys pockets are deep cause your gonna need alot of cash to talk this shit into stores. As a female rider I’m all about girl owned brands doing something positive in the industry! But do your research for one – this is 1995!

Sausage February 25, 2007 at 10:34 am

23 year old running an upstart. Hmm she’s kind of cute wonder is she wants to be my superfreak.

Sausage ditto February 25, 2007 at 11:00 am

This chick is hot. If buying one of her snowboards would get me a chance to hook up with that, id buy one.

dumb bitch February 28, 2007 at 10:40 am

She’s not that hot. I bet she doesn’t even know how to snowboard. What year did you turn pro?
