Cote and Koteen Promoted
Oceanside, CA, January 12, 2006 – TransWorld SURF announced today that Casey Koteen has been named managing editor, effective immediately. Koteen will report to Editor-In-Chief Joel Patterson in TransWorld Media's Oceanside headquarters. "We're really excited about hiring Casey as our Managing Editor. He's a talented writer, editor, organizer, and surfer, and he's exactly what TransWorld SURF needs to continue refining our voice. Magazine-making is a never ending quest for which there's no final piece that completes the puzzle, but Casey's strengths compliment those of our existing staff in a way that will help TW SURF excel in coming years," said Patterson.
Koteen joins TransWorld SURF from TransWorld Business, where he was a senior editor for two years. While at TW Business, Casey was in charge of the bulk of the surf content that spanned the pages of the Business magazine. Prior to TransWorld, Casey also worked as associate editor for Primedia's Surfing magazine. As a lifelong surfer, Casey brings a plethora of surf knowledge and history to the already strong SURF team; and as the managing editor, he will oversee day-to-day management of the magazine, including editing submissions and finding the next generation of writers.
On a similar note, TransWorld SURF would also like to announce that Justin Coté has been promoted to the position Online Editor. "As people look increasing to the internet for information and entertainment, the online editor has become a very important role at our magazine, and Justin has unique gifts that make him well suited for the position," said Patterson. Prior to working at TransWorld headquarters, Coté was SURF's Hawai'i editor for three years. Since moving back to San Diego County from Oahu, Coté has become a favorite among readers who enjoy his witty comebacks and flavorful stories, something that Justin and his infamous younger brother Chris share.
Please join TransWorld SURF in welcoming and congratulating Casey and Justin in their new positions.
