Etnies: We Hired Another Brit?!

Lake Forest, Calif. – etnies is seemingly on its way to becoming the largest skateboard industry employer of the British outside of the UK, by fearlessly adding a Liverpudlian to its skate program!

Clifford Unsworth has been crowned etnies’ new skate team manager and, with accents flyin’ all over the place in here, he surely felt right at home upon arriving in the Brit-infested offices of Lake Forest, California. Clifford grew up skateboarding in Liverpool, and came to the U.S. for a three-month adventure in 1997 – needless to say, he loved the California lifestyle so much that his three-month trip turned into a nine-year stay and he hasn’t returned to the U.K. since.

Prior to his new gig at etnies, Clifford worked with all the brands at Dwindle Distribution, most recently handling team management and marketing for enjoi. As the first Brit to finagle his way into etnies more than 15 years ago, Don Brown, senior VP of marketing for Sole Technology, said, “After the French on-field thugism during the recent World Cup, I figured we need to hire some protection around here. Scousers are known for sucking out eyeballs, biting off ears, and using Stanley knives as their weapon of choice. Bring that Zidane headbutt on Pierre, we’re ready!”

Clifford knows the drill; we are confident in him and look forward to the fun and leadership he will bring to the etnies skateboard team. But as a Brit managing fellow Euros—a Finn, a Frenchman, a Dane and a Spaniard, to be specific – the biggest challenge may rely on his ability to ration at least some of the beer out to the American half of the team.
