Industry Veteran Tim Garrett joins O’Neill Clothing as Vice President of Marketing and reunites with former partner Thom McElroy
Irvine, Calif.- O’Neill Clothing President and CEO Kelly Gibson announces the appointment of industry veteran Tim Garrett to the position of vice president of marketing, reuniting him with former partner Thom McElroy. McElroy’s efforts will now shift to assume the role of brand consultant.
The action sports specialists and former business partners have a successful history dating back to the mid nineties when Garrett spent 8 years at McElroy:FCB, an action sports marketing firm originally launched by McElroy, as senior vice president and partner.
“Tim will bring so much to the table for O’Neill and I am stoked that he is joining us,” said Gibson. “He is a killer addition to the marketing team because he has such an extensive background in the action sports industry,” added Gibson.
Garrett’s focus will be to maximize the brand strength of O’Neill through a targeted communication plan for clothing domestically. “I feel very fortunate to be joining such a great team of people. The product is awesome and the O’Neill brand is incredibly strong with a rich history,” says Garrett. He and McElroy will work closely to implement the plan that encompasses brand’s mantra, Forward Fusion, which is a bold collaboration of ideas creating culture for the youth today. “The amount of knowledge and experience between the two of them is unprecedented,” said Gibson referring to Garrett and McElroy reuniting.
ASR trade exposition in San Diego (Sept 9-11) will be Garrett’s first tradeshow with the O’Neill team. In addition to rolling out the Spring 06 line, O’Neill will unveil its revolutionary Customize Individualize program.
