Burton Launches 2006 Spring/Summer Apparel Collection
Burlington, VT – For the past 28 years, Burton has defined the lifestyle of snowboarding while providing riders with the best gear. Burton takes this philosophy to heart with the unveiling of the Burton Life 2006 Spring/Summer men’s apparel collection. The first line of its kind from a snowboard manufacturer, Burton Life is comfortable, functional and stylish clothing that gives loyal riders what they have been asking for while reaching others that embrace what the snowboarding lifestyle represents.
“The launch of Burton Life is a natural evolution for Burton that is grounded in the strength of our brand, our leadership in the industry and the demand from riders,” says Burton’s President, Laurent Potdevin. “We are excited to apply Burton’s legendary design and quality to our first full-range, trend-setting apparel line for all seasons.”
Burton Life is a collection of knits, wovens, cargo shorts, denim, premium hoodies and street jackets that combines the draw of unique, vintage clothing with a young, fashion-forward appeal. Looking to our roots and our team for inspiration, Burton Life blends classic Burton style with progressive aesthetics, timeless quality and the latest in design innovation. The line represents an attitude that encompasses expression of every kind, from riding to music to art to fashion and beyond.
“Riders want clothing that they can wear off the mountain that speaks to their lifestyle. Burton Life reaches those riders as well as new customers who want fresh, design-driven pieces that set them apart from the masses,” explains Greg Dacyshyn, Vice President/Creative Director of Product for Burton. “The line builds on our roots in snowboarding and our high-quality design, materials and construction for the perfect blend of function and fashion.”
Blending ‘70s rock n’ roll style with an early ‘80s aesthetic, the 2006 Spring/Summer collection presents a wide array of musically-inspired color themes, including Purple Haze, Brown Sugar and Heart of Glass. Many pieces incorporate original printed artwork, such as the detailed designer-influenced print on the Labyrinth French Cuff Woven Shirt and on the inside pocket details of the Oswald Denim Pants, as well as the rock n' roll poster girls printed on the technical 3 Layer scrim lining of the Trailer Jacket.
“Burton Life is doing in first season what Burton has been doing for years -- pushing the limits, thinking outside of the box, and coming up with new ideas, treatments, and fresh products,” says Burton Global Team rider Keir Dillon.
Burton Life will be available at select retailers in February, 2006.
