Aaron Chang Photo Letters

Dear Sacklunch,
Interesting topic... if Mr. Chang were to not receive that "award" and it went to the person who actually shot it, then what of all the hundreds, perhaps thousands of photos that have been credited to Mr. Chang over the years that were actually shot by this very same "anon" photog?

"Pay no attention to the man behind the camera, I am the great wizard of Oz"--its funny that it has taken this long for people to see behind the curtain.

Will this photog be given "retro" credit for all of those photos? Not to discredit Mr. Chang, who has been prolific as a surf photog, but at what point in time does the "anon" photog take the paper bag off of his head and announce to the world that he is the wizard behind at least some of the magic? Probably when the price tag is enough.... Brendan should step up and claim the prize. Actually, Mr. Chang should step down and give it to him, publicly.

Absolut-ley Fabulous

Dear Mr. Sacklunch:
Thank you for keeping me honest on the Lars Ulrich quote (I knew I flubbed that one up). But now it's my turn to keep you honest: it's Absolut Vodka, not Absolute. I should know: I guzzle the shit like water.

Thanks again.
Evan

[The letter that was previously holding this position was removed by the person who wrote it because, on second thought, it was not really a public letter, but more of a creative writing excersize in the guise of a personal letter. It has been removed.]

Making Amends at Surfer Mag?

I was up at Surfer magazine recently and was surprised to see Matt Walker pacing around the hallowed halls. Evan Slater seems to be hedging his editorial bets by contributing to Surfer as well -- a magazine he left literally hanging with his very sudden defection to Swell when everything seemed super Swell. Do the appearances of these two and others on the Swell staff in the halls and pages of the Bible of the Sport bode ill for the great new pretender? When will Palladini come around demanding his old job back?
