Swell Rumors for Leap Day

1. Swell Retail Idea DOA. After planning six retail shops Swell planners discovered that all the prime retail locations were already covered by the major brands. For instance, why would surf brand Q reps open a new shop down the street from Becker, or Jacks, or Surfside, or Surfride? Apparently they wouldn't.

2. Swell Looking to Buy Retail Chain. Seeing as no one would open them, why not buy a retail chain that already owns distribution of all the brands. Is Pacific Eyes n Tees for sales?

3. Swell Absorbed by Primedia. In past weeks Primedia has boasted that it plans to become a "new media" powerhouse to rival AOL-Time Warner. They own About.com, why not Swell.com?

4. Swell Get's Parted Out To the Highest Bidder. There is a lot of talent in the building. But what would become of Surfline?

5. Swell's Offices Swallowed Whole By Mother Nature. Though the Seattle earthquake was only felt as far away as Salt Lake City, apparently it triggerer a movment of the earth's crust sucking the entire Swell office into the ground.
